Late Mr. Vini Ahuja, a visionary science graduate, laid the foundation for PRESPL's legacy by initially establishing Bermaco Group in 1963 with a focus on power plant equipment manufacturing and EPC projects. He played a pivotal role in delivering a major 165 MW power project at Kochi and was dedicated to advancing the use of biomass for bioenergy in India. Mr.Vini Ahuja’s pioneering spirit and passion continues to inspire PRESPL’s mission in the biomass and bioenergy sector.
Building on this legacy, Lt. Col. Monish Ahuja established Punjab Renewable Energy Systems Pvt. Ltd. (PRESPL) - now India’s leading biomass supply chain management and bio-energy company.
A decorated former Army officer and National Defence Academy (NDA) alumnus, Lt. Col. Ahuja holds an M.Tech in Nuclear Technology from BARC, a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, and a B.Sc from JNU. He is widely acknowledged as the “Biomass Energy Man of the Year” for his efforts in harnessing agro-residues to power India’s clean energy revolution.
Under his leadership, PRESPL has emerged as a trailblazer in biomass aggregation, rural employment generation, and renewable project development. By transforming agri-waste into economic and environmental opportunity, the company is enabling sustainable growth and supporting India’s transition to a low-carbon future.
